Why is it important to know yourself ?

To know the importance of learning about yourself, you must understand how to differentiate between the true you and everything that is not you.
We possess various material belongings in our lives—like a house, a car, jewelry, and many more. These things, accumulated by you, can be yours, but they can’t be you. In the same way, your emotions, mindset, personality, and the whole content of your mind are accumulated; they may belong to you, but they are not truly you.

You are just a vessel that collects different kinds of thoughts and often gets lost in them. Like a dusty mirror that hides its reflection, you must clear the grime to see yourself as you truly are.

People face various distractions, especially related to work, marriage, and personal responsibilities. Common work distractions include digital interruptions, multitasking, and burnout. In marriage, communication issues, financial stress, and emotional neglect often arise. Family life brings its own challenges, such as parenting demands and household duties. Internally, distractions come from anxiety, overthinking, or a lack of motivation. Social pressures and excessive screen time also play a role.

No one is saying you should neglect your responsibilities. In life, we all have to take on different roles, such as being a parent, child, friend, student, employee/professional, citizen, or spouse/partner. Each role comes with its unique set of duties, expectations, and emotional investments.

But everything becomes much harder when you are carrying a heavy mental burden. That’s when you stop finding joy in the things you used to love. This is where the real problem begins: you start acting like a robot—just refueling every night, only to repeat the same routines over and over again. You feel too weak to continue.

But the truth is—you are not weak because you’re tired.
You are tired because you’ve been strong for too long without rest.

And rest doesn’t just mean taking a day off. That might offer a temporary break, but eventually, you’ll find yourself back in the same place you were before. The key solution is to know yourself—and to find the right kind of rest that your inner self truly needs.

Real rest can only be found by knowing yourself.
